Planning a Ranthambore tiger safari? Seats are limited and released by the Forest Department on a fixed schedule, so knowing when and how to book makes all the difference. Here’s our complete, local-expert guide.
1. Advance Booking Windows
Online safari booking opens in three windows each season:
- 1st August – for October, November & December
- 1st November – for January, February & March
- 1st February – for April, May & June
Popular dates — Diwali, Christmas, New Year and long weekends — sell out within hours, so share your details with us before the window opens.
2. Tatkal Quota
- Tatkal Jeep Safari: slots open 7 days prior to the safari date.
- Tatkal Canter Safari: morning slots open 1 day prior; afternoon slots open on the same day.
3. Premium Quota
Premium quota slots open 3 days prior to the safari date. There is no separate fixed premium quota — seats appear only when previously booked seats are cancelled, so availability is never guaranteed.
4. Jeep or Canter?
A Jeep (Gypsy) seats 6 guests and is ideal for couples, families and photographers. A Canter seats 20 and is the budget-friendly choice for groups. Zone, vehicle, driver and guide are allotted by the Forest Department.
5. Documents You Need
- Full name of every guest
- Indian nationals: Aadhaar, Voter ID, Passport or PAN Card
- Foreign nationals: Passport details
Important: ID details must exactly match the original document shown at the counter — otherwise the boarding pass may be refused with no refund.
6. Before You Go
- Booking is processed after 100% payment. Once booked, there is no cancellation or refund.
- Zones 01–05 are closed on Wednesdays; Zones 06–10 on Tuesdays.
- Report at the gate 30 minutes early. Vehicle & guide details are shared about an hour before the safari.
